Sample Itinerary

DAY 1

MUMBAI - MAHAD PALI—PUNE

After breakfast at Hotel depart by surface for Pune enroute visit to Mahad ( Varad vinayak)

The idol of this Ashta Vinayak temple,varad vinaya Varada Vinayak is a swayambu (self originated) and was found in the adjoining lake in an immersed position in 1690 AD. This varadvinayak temple is said to be built in 1725AD by Subhedar Ramji Mahadev Biwalkar. The temple premises are on one side of a beautiful pond.A unique feature of Mahad Varadvinayak Temple is a lamp that is glowing continually since 1892. 

This Ashta Vinayak shrine faces east (Purvabhimukh)and is enshrined in the sitting posture, with his trunk turned towards the left. The stone idols of Riddhi and Siddhi are seen in the sanctum. The statues of elephants decorate the four sides of the temple. The dome of the temple is about 25 feet high with golden pinnacle. A Gomukh (meaning face of a cow) is seen on the north side of the temple from which flows the holy water. A holy pond is situated on the west side of the temple.This temple also has the idol of Mushika, Navagraha Devtas and Shivalinga.

In this Ashta Vinayak Temple devotees can enter the Garbagriha and pay their homage and respects to the idol personally. Devotees visit the Varadvinayak shrine throughout the year. During festivals like the Magha Chaturthi huge crowds can be seen in this temple.

Proceed to Pali ( Shree Ballaleshwar Temple) 

Pali Palicha Shree Ballaleshwar Vinayak temple at Pali, which is located 110 km away from Pune in Maharashtra. The temple, which was built by Nana Phadnis in 1770, was named after Ballal of Pali. The presiding deity is Lord Ballaleshwar (Ganapati). Ganapati is known as Ballaleshwar here.The Ganesh idol in the temple is 3 ft tall. His consorts Siddhi and Riddhi flank Ganesha’s image. The eyes of the Ganapati are studded with diamonds. There is also another Ganesh Temple, known as Dhundi Vinayak just behind the temple. The Peshwas in the temple installed a big Portuguese made bell

Proceed to visit Ballaleshwar – Pali

Later depart by surface for Pune, on arrival check-in at Hotel

DAY 2

Pune- Siddhtek –Rajangaon

After breakfast at Hotel depart for same day excursion visit Siddhitek One of the “Ashtavinayak” Shri Siddhi Vinayak is at Siddhatek in Nagar district.

The idol is believed to be “Swayambhu” as was found or , not sculpted by human hands.Siddhatek is situated on the banks of Bhima River. Lord Brahma once created a world with Ganpati’s blessings and while this was going on, Vishnu woke up and two fierce demons Madhu and Kaitaba escaped from his ears. Vishnu fought with them for 5000 years, then Lord Shiva pointed out that Vishnu had started without worshipping Ganpati, so Vishnu invoked Ganpati on Siddhatek hill and , destroyed the demons   successfully and consecrated the spot.

Ranjangaon is one of the eight places associated with Lord Ganesha, popularly known as “Ashtavinayak”. The idol of Lord Ganesha is “Swayambhu” (self created ).

The original idol was very big but was hidden to prevent its destruction and now a days smaller idol was installed instead.

After worshiped Shri. Ganesh, Lord Shiva defeated Tripurasura , in gratitude Shiva established a Maha Ganpati at Ranjangaon.r

DAY 3

Pune City tour -Theur - Moregaon

 After breakfast at Hotel depart for city tour of Pune 

Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum (showcasing nearly 20,000 various artifacts in 3 floors. Timings 10.30 to 5.30 p.m. Entrance for foreign Nationals is Rs.200/-pp One needs at least 2 hours to have a quick look at this museum. Camera charges Rs. 100/- for still camera

Shaniwar wada  A very ancient fort palace built by the Peshwas. Entrance for foreign nationals is Rs. 100/-pp

Vishrambag Wada no entrance

Pataleshwar Caves/Temple dating back to the 8th century, it is a single massive Basalt rock carved into a Lord Shiva Temple No Entrance fees. Time required is about 30 minutes.

Dagdu Shet Ganapati and The Gram devi (Local Goddess)of Jogeshwari, No entrance fees but we have to walk around at least half an hour.

After lunch at local restaurant  excursion to Theur & Moregaon

Theur is 26 kms away from Pune, also known as Shri. Chintamani. The idol is believed to be “Swayambhu” ( Self Created ) as was found or not sculpted by human hands.
On the visit of Gana ( Son of King Abhijit ) to Saga Kapila he coveted the Chintamani, which Kapila used to fulfill his wishes. Kapila refused to part with the stone but Gana took it forcibly. Shri Durga advised Kapila to worship Ganpati. After worshipping Kapila killed Gana. Then King Abhijit returned the Jewel to Kapila but he did not take it. Ganpati stayed on the spot under Kadamba tree and called himself Chintamani.
The great Madhavrao Peshwa  renovated this place. Peshwe Wada – a mansion built by the Peshwas is worth a visit. It was here that Madhavrao Peshwe breathed his last

MORGAON: One of the Ashtavinayak, Shri Moreshwar is at Morgaon. The idol is believed to be “Swayambhu” as was found or not sculpted by human hands. Morgaon is at the distance of 64 kms from Pune. This is also known as Shri. Mayureshwar.
The temple was built in 14th century by Moraya Gosavi. According to the legend Ganpati took birth as Mayureshwar riding a peacock to kill Sindhu ( who was son of Chakrapani ) also had powerful by worshipping Surya and was attacking Gods and imprisoned them. 

This is the place where head of Sindhu fell.
It is believed that one Should start the “Ashtavinayak” yatra from Morgaon.

DAY 4

Pune - Ozar Temple - Lenyadri Temple– Mumbai

After breakfast at Hotel depart by surface for Mumbai enroute Ozhar & Leynadri 

OZHAR: On the banks of the Kukdeshwar river, Ozhar is where Lord Vighneshwar resides. Lord Ganesh is known as Vigneshwara or the remover of all obstacles, this he achieved by vanquishing the demon Vighnasura. 

The temple is situated in the Junnar District Pune. Chimajiappa, the younger brother of Peshwa made a golden top of the temple after he defeated the Portuguese in a war. The renovation of the temple was done between 1958 to 1968 and was brought to its original glory. Swayambhu (self-generated) idol with the trunk to the left. Temple faces East and has several idols. There is a beautiful deepamala in the temple. 

It is believed that after visiting this place God takes away your problems. The temple is surrounded by a long stone wall which acts as compound. The idol of a running mouse inside the temple is a delight to see. The eyes of Lord Ganesh is made of diamond which gives the real look to God. The best time to visit here is during Tripuri pournima, it is a 4 day festival. 

LENYADRI: Lenyadri is 96 kms away from Pune. Lenyadri is also known as Shri Girijatmaka. Shri Girijatmaka situated on a hill on the banks of Kukdi river at Lenyadri.
There are 283 stairs to climb to reach the temple. The idol is believed to be “Swayambhu” as was found or not sculpted by human hands. Ganpati’s tread ceremony was performed here.

All the caves of Lenyadri are being taken care of by the Archeological Department of Govt. of India. The steps are not so easy to climb and hence recommended not to go in the evening

Later depart by surface for Mumbai, on arrival in Mumbai transfer to Hotel Mirador for Buffet Dinner and later in time transfer to Mumbai Airport to connect flight for onward destination
