Sample Itinerary

DAY 1

Arrival Delhi by flight

  • Meeting and assistance on arrival & transfer from airport to hotel in Delhi.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2

Delhi-Amritsar by flight

  • After breakfast, transfer to airport to board flight for Amritsar.
  • Afternoon visit Wagah Border – the final frontier, Wagah is the only border crossing between India and Pakistan. It’s an interesting experience especially at sunset when the ‘Retreat’ ceremony takes place with the BSF on the Indian Side of the Border.

IMPORTANT: Please note Indian Army can suspend Retreat ceremony without any prior intimation. 

  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3

In Amritsar

  • After breakfast, proceed for half day city tour of Amritsar which includes Golden Temple – Har Mandir Saheb, popularly known, as the Golden temple is the holiest shrine for the Sikhs, so called because the entire upper half was inlaid with copper covered over by gold plate. The Durgiana Mandir that is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Durga and Baba Atal Rai Tower are some of the main tourist attractions in Amritsar.
  • Nearby is Jallianwala Bagh which is a public garden in Amritsar and houses a memorial of national importance, established in 1951 to commemorate the murder of peaceful celebrators on the occasion of the Punjabi New Year on April 13, 1919 in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
  • Evening attend night ceremony at Golden temple.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4

Amritsar-Dharamshala

  • After breakfast, drives to Dharamshala. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel.
  • Late afternoon visit Macleodganj which is a charming Tibetan settlement with bustling bazaars that sell carpets, handicrafts and delicious Tibetan food. A giant prayer wheel ornaments a main street and in the monastery, a serene statue of the Lord Buddha presides over the gentle chanting of the monks.
  •  Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 5

In Dharamshala

  • After breakfast, visit War Memorial – set amidst the pine groves is a war memorial, built on the entry point of the Dharamshala to commemorate the post-independence war heroes of Himachal Pradesh. 
  • Visit St. John’s Church – one of the most poignant memories of the British Raj is the church of St. John, situated in the wilderness. Under the shade of Deodar branches, a memorial has been made over the body of the British Viceroy, Lord Elgin who died at Dharamshala in 1863.
  • Finally visit Norbulinka Institute which is just 4-kms from Dharamshala. It was established to preserve and teach the ancient Tibetan arts. The shady paths, wooden bridges, small streams tiny waterfalls make this place look like heaven. The nunnery close to the institute is a place where women are taught the advanced levels of Buddhist philosophy.
  • Overnight at the hotel. 

DAY 6

Dharamshala-Delhi by flight

  • After breakfast, transfer to airport to board flight back to Delhi. 
  • Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel & check-in.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 7

Departure from Delhi

  • After breakfast, visit the historic Red Fort (only photo stop), very near the Fort is the Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque), India’s largest mosque. Walk through the famous bazaars of Chandni Chowk. Visit Raj Ghat – the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.
  • Visit India Gate, the memorial of the First World War and from there to President House, which is flanked by the houses of Parliament and Government Secretariat buildings.
  • Finally visit the Qutub Minar, a Tower of Victory that was built in the 12th century by Qutbuddin Aibak.
  • In time transfer to Delhi airport to board flight for onwards destination.
