Experience Overview

Wine making in India started around 5,000 years ago which started during the Mughal rule.  At present, India is home to some of the finest vineyards in the world. Planning a wine tour to India is one of the best ways of relaxing, tasting different wines and learning about it. Our explorers will take you to beautiful orchards and vineyards located in the valleys nearby the city of Nashik, Pune and Bangalore and experience a good time by surveying unique wineries and tasting some of the finest wines.

DAY 1

Arrival Mumbai

On your arrival at Mumbai airport, you will be welcomed by our representative & transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is free for leisure or for your own activities. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2

Mumbai

Morning after breakfast excursion to Elephanta Caves ( closed on Monday) enroute visit Gateway of India.

The Gateway of India is a treasured monument that was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary for the Delhi Durbar in 1911. It is complete with four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow basalt stone.

9 nautical miles across the sea from the Gateway of India lay Elephanta, also known as ‘Gharapuri’. Visit this green island for the wonders of the 7 th century, the painstakingly hewn rock-cut cave temple, dedicated to Shiva. The Maheshamurti panel in which Shiva is shown as a creator, protector and destroyer, is a sight that should be enjoyed at least once in a lifetime.

Afternoon drive past a popular sea front, Marine Drive is a winding stretch of road with tall buildings on one side and sea on the other. It was once called the Queen’s Necklace because of its curved shape. Tours continues with visit to Mani Bhawan & Hanging gardens. Mani Bhawan used to be the Mumbai residence of Mahatma Gandhi. one of the important places to visit in Mumbai. It has a reference library with over 2000 books and other of the Mahatma’s belongings. The Hanging Gardens or Ferozeshah Mehta Garden and Kamla Nehru Park are located opposite each other. Both the gardens provide lovely sunset views over the Arabian Sea. The latter has the famous “Old Woman’s Shoe” that is a delight to all children.

Also visit Dhobi Ghat – A unique feature of Mumbai, the dhobi is a traditional laundryman, who will collect your dirty linen, wash it, and return it neatly pressed to your doorstep. The clothes are soaked in sudsy water, thrashed on the flogging stones, then tossed into huge vats of boiling starch and hung out to dry. Next they are ironed and piled into neat bundles.

DAY 3

Mumbai - Nashik (170kms / 03hrs)

Next day, after breakfast you will be drive to Nashik ,India’s leading grape-growing region . On arrival at Nashik, check-in to the hotel & relax. Take a dip in the vineyard pool or go for a leisurely bicycle ride on the winding country roads, soak up the peaceful view or simply enjoy delicious food while sipping on Sula wines. This is quite simply a slice of paradise. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4

Nashik (Sula Vineyard)

This Morning Proceed for the wine tour at Sula wine estates , tour of the vineyards and winery. End your tour in our Tasting Room, where we’ll lead you through the proper steps to see, swirl, sniff, and sip wine. The quiet, quaint and cool Morning in Nashik walking the rows of vines. The harvest and crush season runs from January to March.

DAY 5

Nashik - Pune ( 210 kms , 05hrs)

After breakfast in the morning, drive to Pune , known as the “Queen of the Deccan”.  The one time bastion of the Maratha Empire, Pune is surrounded by hills and lies in a fine natural setting enchanted by a pleasant and invigorating climate.  The forts of the daring Marathas, who were probably the first to practice guerilla warfare, are some of the highlights of the region

On the way to Pune visit Deccan Plateau Vineyards bring in the aroma laden flavour of the delectable Indian spices, accentuating the taste, making Deccan Plateau Wines a true signature brand!

Located on the fertile plains of River Bhima, the plush 17 acres of Deccan Plateau Vineyards account for one of the most beautiful winery and finest vineyards of the country, planting a variety of wine grapes.

DAY 6

Pune - Bangalore

Morning Afternoon sightseeing of Pune visiting Shindyanchi Chhatri and Aga Khan Palace.
Shindyanchi Chhatri – Amongst the architectural prides of Pune, the memorial to the great warrior Mahadji Shinde, the commander-in-chief of the Maratha army, between the years 1760 to 1780 under the mighty Peshwas. The temple adorned with Rajasthani architecture is an imposing edifice situated at Wanowrie.
Aga Khan Palace – True to its name this place boasts of Italianate arches and spacious lawns, an unlikely place for a prison but the Britishers interned Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi here.The architecture of the palace wil take you down memory lane, reminding you of the illustrations from fairy tale houses.

Intime transfer to Pune Airport to board the flight for Bangalore. On arrival at Bangalore airport, meet with our representative & transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 7

Bangalore (Grover Vineyard)

After breakfast in the morning, a full day excursion tour to Grover Vineyards.
Grover Vineyards is situated at the foothill of Nandi Hills, which is approx 50 kms from Bangalore. It was established in 1988 by Mr. Kanwal Grover and Mr. Georges Vesselle with a view of breathing fresh life into the stagnant wine drinking culture in India. In 1988, nine varieties that responded well to Indian conditions were planted on an industrial scale on 40 acres of land at the outskirts of Bangalore. Presently, Grover Vineyards has over 400 acres under this plantation. Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier are the two white wines & Rosé wine is another variant on offer from Grover Vineyards. Here, you have a chance to get an actual experience of the winemaking process. Starting from the vineyard where a brief history of wines and cultivation is provided, it provide opportunity to leisurely walk around the surroundings and to take photographs, later move to the winery where detailed information regarding crushing, filtering, processing and packaging is provided. After this move to the barrel room where real, imported oak barrels full of La Réserve lie in wait. Here you can taste different varieties of wine. After lunch & exploring the Vineyard, drive back to Bangalore. Evening is free for own activities. Overnight at the hotel.

 

DAY 8

BANGALORE – MYSORE( 145 KMS / 3HRS)

Morning drive to Mysore . Upon arrival check in at hotel.

Afternoon tour of Mysore – This giant image of Nandi (Bull) is located at the top of Chamundi hills in Mysore. More than 350 years old, this is one of the oldest icons in Mysore.According to Hindu mythology Nandi is considered as the vehicle (mount) of Lord Shiva, the lord of destruction. In front of every Shiva temple, on the court facing the shrine, you can see the image of a Nandi. About 16 feet in height and 24 feet long, this Nandi atop the Chamundi Hills is the third largest in India.

DAY 9

MYSORE – BANGALORE – DEPARTURE

Morning short trip to Mysore Place and then drive to Bangalore (Approx. 145 Kms/ 3 ½ hrs drive) and upon arrival check in at hotel.

Tippu Sultan’s Palace – Which dates from about 1790, is the summer retreat for Tipu sultan, the two story structure is made Mostly out of wood with finely embellished balconies, pillars and arches.

What remains now is parts of the fort wall with a tablet marking the place where Cornwallis had breached it in 1791. In the courtyard is the Ganesha Temple that is popularly thought to represent Tipu Sultan’s religious tolerance. The fort is noted for its beautifully carved arches on the gate walls.

In time you will be transfer to the international Airport in Bangalore to Board the flight for home country.
