Sample Itinerary
DAY 1
Arrival Varanasi by flight
- Meeting and assistance on arrival & transfer from airport to hotel in Varanasi.
- Evening, go down to the banks of the river Ganges and board your private boat to witness the Aarti.
- Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 2
In Varanasi
- Early morning boat cruise on river Ganges. At dawn the Ghats are abuzz with activity of the devotees performing their ablutions in the river of offering prayers to the rising sun. Visit the Vishwanath temple.
- After breakfast, proceed for tour of Sarnath the fabled place, which bears testimony to its great past where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon to his disciples, expounding the principles of Buddhism.
- Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 3
Varanasi-Bodh Gaya
- After breakfast, drives to Bodhgaya. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel.
- Later proceed for the guided city tour of Bodhgaya city including Mahabodhi Temple which stands in the east to the Bodhi Tree. Its architectural effect is superb.
- Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4
Bodhgaya-Rajgir-Nalanda-Rajgir
- After breakfast, we will do full day excursion to Rajgir & Nalanda. Rajgir which means ‘house of the king’, was the first capital of the kingdom of Magadha. Continue to Nalanda which is one of the places distinguished as having been blessed by the presence of the Buddha.
- Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 5
Bodhgaya-Vaishali-Kushinagar
- After breakfast, drive to Kushinagar en-route visiting Vaishali & Kesraiya. Vaishali was one of the Buddha’s favourite retreats and he came here on many occasions. Kesariya Stupa the largest in the world with the height of 104 ft attracts lots of Buddhist pilgrimage. Upon reaching Kushinagar, check-in.
- Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 6
Kushinagar-Lumbini
- After breakfast, sightseeing of Kushinagar where Buddhists believe Gautama Buddha attained Parinirvana after his death. Visit Nirvana Chaitya located just behind the main Parinirvana temple.
- Drive to Lumbini & upon arrival, check-in at your hotel. Overnight at the hotel
DAY 7
Lumbini-Sravasti
- After breakfast proceed for the sightseeing of Lumbini. Lord Buddha was born at Lumbini while his mother was on her way to parental home from Kapilavastu.
- Afternoon drives to Sravasti & upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 8
Sravasti-Lucknow
- After breakfast, sightseeing of Sravasti which has the famous Anand Bodhi tree, an offspring of the one, said to have been planted by Buddha’s main disciple, Anand. Upon reaching Lucknow, check-in at hotel.
- Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 9
Lucknow-Agra
- After breakfast, visit the 18th century capital of Nawaz Wazirs & visit the great Imambara, Jama Masjid, picture gallery, The Clock Tower, Roomi Darwaza, Residency and Dilkusha Palace.
- Drives to Agra. Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 10
Agra-Delhi
- After breakfast, visit the majestic marble edifice, Taj Mahal. The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaj Mahal. (Closed on Fridays) Also visit Agra Fort is among the finest examples of the fusion architecture that has dominated the Mogul period.
- Drives to Delhi & check-in at hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 11
Agra-Delhi
- After breakfast, visit the historic Red Fort (only photo stop), very near the Fort is the Jama Masjid (Friday Mosque), India’s largest mosque. Walk through the famous bazaars of Chandni Chowk. Visit Raj Ghat – the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. India Gate, the memorial of the First World War and from there to President House, which is flanked by the houses of Parliament and Government Secretariat buildings.
- Finally visit the Qutub Minar, a Tower of Victory that was built in the 12th century by Qutbuddin Aibak.
- In time transfer to Delhi airport to board flight for onwards destination.
